They're not bad given the hardware limitations, and Metal Slug Advance is notoriously difficult, even moreso since enemies respawn if you return back even a little. I'd hate to recommend emulating those, but good luck finding those. The first two were released on the Neo-Geo Pocket Color and the third was on the Game Boy Advance.
METAL SLUG SERIES SERIES
The only ones left are Metal Slug: 1st Mission, Metal Slug: 2nd Mission, and Metal Slug Advance. METAL SLUG, the very first title in SNK’s legendary 2D run & gun action shooting game series where all began, returns to the missions on the Steam gaming platform Recent Reviews: Very Positive (45) - 84 of the 45 user reviews in the last 30 days are positive. Metal Slug Defense is no longer updated, since Metal Slug Attack is a follow-up to that game and it's still receiving new content. I haven't tried out Metal Slug Infinity yet.
METAL SLUG SERIES FREE
If you're into mobile gaming, Metal Slug Defense, Metal Slug Attack, and Metal Slug Infinity are all free to play, but they're probably available worldwide. No need to ask about Metal Slug 3D, because I have never played it nor wish to play it in the near future. Since Metal Slug XX is an enhanced version of Metal Slug 7, I dunno what has changed as I never played that version.

But there is no screen filter options and full screen looks butt ugly. I think either one plays fine, I've not come across any issues. If you get it on PS4, it will come with all the DLC (Leona as a playable character), Xbox 360 will need a seperate purchase. Gameplay-10/10 Metal Slug X has everything you expect and wouldnt expect from a Metal Slug game. Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 Metal Slug 2: Super Vehicle-001/II Metal Slug X: Super Vehicle-001 Metal Slug 3 Metal Slug 4 Metal Slug 5. However, its still a great game and is worth a bit of your time. SNKs beloved long-running series of slickly animated pixel-art violence.
Another great Metal Slug title, but not the best. Now the lone one left of the main series is Metal Slug XX, which I also have on Xbox One, but it's an Xbox 360 game that's backward compatible. A great game but not the best in the Metal Slug Series.
The ACA NEOGEO versions should be the same across all platforms. But this is not from poor emulation, that's just exactly like how they originally played. Since these are the exact same as the arcade versions, some of them have some slowdown (most notable is Metal Slug 2). Now before I got that collection, I had gotten a few of the ACA NEOGEO versions on Xbox One whenever they went on sale, dunno about when and if they go on sale in the Nintendo eShop. I'm not too picky about frames per second or none of that mess. The player (s) takes the role of a soldier (or two) and fights a gigantic army. I tried out a few of the others out, they're more than playable. Metal Slug, originally released on the Neo Geo, is a side-scrolling shootemup. Many Rebel Army symbols appear in the game as well, despite in fact that the main enemy in this series is the Axis powers on World War II. Commando 2 is set in Asia, featuring the Imperial Japanese Army as enemies. These games take place during World War II. It differs from the Metal Slug series by introducing a health bar, as well as letting the player choose weapons before playing (in the previous game however, weapons are only equipped as each level is played).
Also, the bosses in Commando borrow some design elements from the Metal Slug bosses. It also features a bonus system like Metal Slug 4. Comparison with Metal Slug Similarities Ĭommando has a weapon change system like that of Metal Slug 6 and 7 / XX.The graphic style is also very similar.
